Cowgirl Chick since 2009
I had always heard of the Cowgirl Chicks growing up and only heard amazing things. I attend college in Fort Worth and by chance I heard the Chicks were located close by and a friend of mine had recently joined. My horses were back in my home town and I was craving to rodeo. I looked up the website and emailed them not thinking they would even need me or be interested in me.
I was thrilled when I was contacted about coming to practice and ride. I was greeted with friendly faces and by the end of the practice they were joking with me and I received farewell hugs! After that first practice I realized how great these girls are.
Being given this wonderful opportunity will open doors for me and it will be something I will cherish for the rest of my life. I love being a cowgirl and living the western lifestyle. Theres no better way to show my love and passion for rodeo and horses than being a Cowgirl Chick. Riding with them gives you a rush like no other. It's a lot different from running barrels or roping... It is a team effort and we all depend on eachother. It's great to be respected for your horsemanship abilities and high moral standards, which you have to have both of these qualities to be a part of the squad.
With hard work, many miles in the saddle, triumphs, and downfalls; I am finally at point in my life where I have a sincere feeling of self worth and that all my hard work has paid off. That is being a Cowgirl Chick. I owe a lot of thanks to some very special people in my life that got me to this point in my cowgirl career.
As the lengendary John Wayne said, "Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway."
